Description

Decidim is an extensible civic platform designed to enable residents and stakeholders to co-create policies and decisions in a transparent, auditable way. Its core features include proposal creation and debate spaces, participatory budgeting modules, assemblies and council management, surveys and consultations, and full traceability from input to final decision. Although widely deployed for urban governance and municipal policy, Decidim’s architecture is well-suited to Rights of Nature and ecological governance, where communities and guardians may need to collectively decide on ecosystem management plans, restoration priorities, or guardianship policies. By enabling participatory processes around ecosystems that hold legal personhood, Decidim can function as an “open civic system for nature governance,” integrating community voice, data, and procedural legitimacy.
