Description

GovTech Singapore is a statutory board under the Ministry of Digital Development and Information that was restructured from the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IMDA) in 2016 and officially legislated in Parliament on August 18th that same year. GovTech builds tech for public good to improve the lives of Singaporeans and supports public agencies' efforts in driving digital transformation. The agency is responsible for the delivery of the Singapore government's digital services to the public and provides the infrastructure to support the implementation of the country's Smart Nation initiative to utilize infocomm technologies, networks, and big data to create tech-enabled solutions.

The agency also oversees and safeguards government ICT infrastructure and regulates public sector ICT procurement, data protection, and cybersecurity. Its Services group works directly with over 60% of Singapore's government agencies to support their digital transformation efforts. The Government Chief Information Office (GCIO) operates under GovTech, with its sub-unit Open Government Products (OGP) developing software solutions for the government, demonstrating an innovative model for delivering digital public goods.
